Statue of Jan Karski (1914-2000), a Polish underground fighter who first made the Allies aware of the mass murder of Jews being perpetrated on Polish soil by the Nazis. He met with Roosevelt in Washington in 1943 and remained in the US for the rest of his life. Sadly, the Allias did not believe (or did not want to believe) his accounts and took no action to stop the killing.
